Dear New Capitol Heights Resident (Estimado nuevo residente de Capitol Heights),

On behalf of the Capitol Heights Mayor and Town Council, I would like to welcome you to the community.

If you’re not familiar already with the Town of Capitol Heights, there’s a lot our community has to offer. Here are a few quick facts about Capitol Heights:

Capitol Heights has over 4,200 residents, across approximately 1,400 households.

Our community is values diversity with residents who represents several dozen countries around the world.

Capitol Heights has a rich history going back almost 100 years. Capitol Heights is one of the Gateway’s to the Nation’s Capital for Prince George’s County and the State of Maryland.

One aspect of life in Capitol Heights that we are proud of is the wide range of cultural and recreational opportunities available in our community. We are planning to expand this tradition in the proposed new Capitol Heights Municipal Center and Capitol Heights Metro Station area.

To help you learn more about Capitol Heights, we’ve provided the links on this web page to some of the information that’s available on the Town government’s website.

Town Administrator - James Booth PDF Print E-mail

The Town Administrator is a charter mandated, appointed position that reports to the Mayor and Council. The Town Administrator is responsible for the day to day operations of the Town. The Administration Department located at Town Hall is the focal point of the day-to-day administration of the Town of Capitol Heights Government. Administration coordinates with the Mayor and Council to draft, enact and implement Town policy and to coordinate the policy agenda by providing management and administrative support.

James Booth was appointed Town Administrator in November 2006. Prior to his appointment with the Town of Capitol Heights, James served as the Assistant City Manager for the City of Mount Rainier, Maryland. James has over 17 years of government and non-profit organization experience ranging from the City of New York Department of Transportation and the Department of Juvenile Justice, Maricopa County (Arizona) Community College District, South East Academy Public Charter School (DC), and several other organizations. During his career, James has worked on organization budgets, grant writing and grants management, contract management, operations, infrastructure projects, financial management and analysis, and customer service.

James received his Bachelor’s degree in Science from the New York Institute of Technology and his Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from Arizona State University.

James spent many years as an independent small business consultant working with start up businesses in the areas of operations, marketing and communications, customer service, sales, and business plan writing.

Update on Plowing Operations - as of 02/08 at 9:00a.m.


Due to Amount of Snow in Town and the safety concerns of the Citizens of the Town of Capitol Heights.

Mayor of Capitol Heights has Call for a State of Emergency 
 


The snow Blizzard of 2010 has dumped approximately 28 inches of snow in Town of Capitol Heights since midday Friday.  The City' has 70% of its road passable and snow plowing operation is continuing though-out the day.  

Plowing

 

 

 

City employees are being supplemented in their efforts by contractors.  Together crews have been plowing since approximately 5:00 p.m. Friday.  We are continuing to plow but cars in the middle of the road have slow down plowing in certain area's. Please be patience we will reach all our resients

 

Salting

We will salt areas after the snow finishes. 
 

Safety

Roads are very dangerous due to heavy snow. Please stay in your house unless travel is required.
