YOUTH @ WORK/SUMMER PROGRAM
PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY YOUTH@WORK/SUMMER YOUTH ENRICHMENT PROGRAM APPLICATIONS OPEN TODAY, MARCH 1
LARGO, MD –
Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks announced today that applications are now open for the Prince George’s County Youth@Work/Summer Youth Enrichment Program (SYEP). County residents ages 14 to 22 can submit an online application between now and March 31, 2022.
“Our Summer Youth Enrichment Program is one of the many ways we are creating and expanding opportunities for our young people to grow and thrive,” said Alsobrooks. “Last year, we were able to place more than 4,400 young people in enriching summer experiences, despite COVID-related budget constraints. We encourage all young people interested in a rewarding summer work experience to apply as soon as possible.”
SYEP is an award-winning program through the County’s Office of Human Resources Management (OHRM) that provides job readiness training, career workshops, and entry-level summer employment opportunities to young people ages 14 to 22. Youth who apply and are selected for the program are placed in constructive summer work experiences in County government agencies, private sector companies, non-profits, and other community organizations.
The 2022 SYEP will take place from July 5, 2022, through August 12, 2022. SYEP applicants must be between the ages of 14 and 22 at the time of the summer program and must be Prince George’s County residents. Applications close on March 31, 2022, and placement offers will begin going out in mid-April 2022.
Residents that wish to learn more and apply should visit syep.mypgc.us. Residents with questions about the program can email SYEP@co.pg.md.us.
