Dear Prince Georgians:
As we work to expand the number of residents who are Proud to be Protected from COVID-19, I want to remind residents not to share vaccination appointment links with others. Recently, we have seen a number of residents, who are not eligible, showing up for vaccine appointments that were made possible by shared appointment links from family and friends. I want to remind residents that under our new system, the Health Department will not send you a link for your appointment. They will only send appointment dates and times to eligible residents who have pre-registered. If for some reason you receive a link from a friend or family member, please do NOT utilize the link to schedule an appointment. While it is a difficult decision to make, we will unfortunately not be able to honor appointments for those who are not eligible.
We are also working hard to reschedule everyone who had first dose appointments cancelled between February 19 and February 22. Everyone who is eligible should have a new appointment date and time by this weekend. Right now, we are prioritizing individuals in Phases 1A and 1B, while our supply of vaccines is limited.
I encourage everyone to pre-register for your vaccine appointment if you are not already, so when the times comes, you will receive an appointment for this life-saving vaccine. Thank you for bearing with us as we work to expand the number of residents who are Proud to be Protected from COVID-19. When your turn comes, I urge you to get the vaccine so you can protect your family, loved ones, friends, neighbors and fellow Prince Georgians.
Yours in service,
Prince George’s County Executive
Currently, the vaccination capacity at our County Health Department’s clinics, including mobile clinics, is 2,000 people per day. However, the number of vaccinations provided is dependent on the supply we receive from the State. This week’s shipment of vaccinations includes doses that were delayed due to the winter weather we had last week.
In order to receive a COVID-19 vaccine through the Prince George’s County Health Department, individuals who live or work in the County must fill out our pre-registration form.
The numbers from this list will continue to fluctuate as more Prince Georgians pre-register for vaccinations, and as others receive appointments at our clinics and are removed from the list.
Our health officials want to be sure you know the scientific facts about COVID-19 vaccines. These vaccines are safe and effective, protecting us and our loved ones when we take them.
We have begun to deploy our mobile vaccination units into the community and over two days have vaccinated over 478 pre-registered older adults. We will continue to take the mobile units to areas in need.
While the County Health Department currently operates four vaccination clinics in the County, there are a number of vaccination sites available in Prince George’s County that are not operated by the County. Each site not operated by the County has its own vaccine appointment scheduling process to distribute vaccines received directly from the State or Federal Government. While this is not ideal, we encourage you to sign up at these other sites to increase your options to receive a COVID-19 vaccine appointment.
Please remember that we do not manage nor control appointments, or distribution for any sites besides those operated by our County Health Department.
