COMMUNITY INPUT MEETING - GREEN STREET DESIGN RESCHEDULED & GREEN COMMITTEE MEETING

Capitol Heights has a Green Agenda and wants your input!  The Town is in the process of designing a Green Street to boost economic revitalization.  Community feedback is critical to the process.

Capitol Heights Green Street Meeting: Saturday, February 25th from 10am to 12noon at First Baptist Capitol Heights Church (6 Capitol Heights Blvd)

The Town's Green Committee will meet Wednesday, February 1 st at 8 pm - Council Chambers

The Town has an Green Committee which recommends policies and programs to the Town Council relating to the environment, on such issues as natural resource management, wildlife habitat protection, energy efficiency, watershed stewardship, pollution prevention, beautification, tree canopy preservation, and ‘green’ policies.  And, it also has an Economic and Community Development Committee, but it needs they both need input from local businesses, residents, and places of worship.

The Low Impact Development Center, a non-profit organization located in Beltsville, MD, received a grant to develop a green street master plan and preliminary design for a 1-2 block street section within the Town of Capitol Heights. With the assistance of Mayor Kito James and the Town of Capitol Heights Town Council members, we are soliciting community feedback to help in the street design process.
